Multi-modal – needing a combination of strategies in order to best take in, study, and provide information.

We have been discussing in this blog the seven different styles of learning. I also think its important to understand that some folks might need a multi-modal approach. This means that the person uses a combination of learning styles. I will discuss more on that topic later. Today, I wanted to provide some study tips for the visual learner.

Visual

  • Copy down all diagrams
  • Get good textbooks
  • Watch videos
  • Use highlighters
  • Use flash cards
  • Replace words with symbols or initials
  • Make study notes

Can you come up with more study tips that you can share with us?

  1. My own learning style is strongly visual ā€“ I use symbols and abbreviations, index cards and colour as study aids ā€“ they help a lot! Timothy Gangwer (Visual Impact Visual Teaching) maintains that 90% of all data the brain processes is visual. Works for me – Great blog Maria!
